My CHRISTmas present 1982

27 years ago today at 5:53 PM I gave birth to my first child. Jeremy Jonathan Cheney. I was 20 yeas old when Jeremy was born and had no idea how being a parent would change my life. Jeremy is such a blessing to our life and we are thankful for him everyday. When he was a young boy he was so happy that his birthday was on Jesus birthday. People would say isn't it hard to have your birthday on Christmas day and he would say "My birthday is on Jesus birthday. Oh the heart of a child. That CHRISTmas day forever changed my life. I am so thankful that God chose me to be Jeremy's mother. My prayer is that this CHRISTmas will forever change our lives. Because the birth of a child. The CHRIST child, Jesus. Please take the time to read Isaiah9:1-9 and Luke 2:1-20 With love, Lori

No room in the Inn

and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. Luke 2:7 Bro. David preached on this today and it just touched me so that I wanted to share just a little with you. Why was there no room in the Inn? Have you really thought about that? There was no room because the Inn Keeper filled it with with others. Are we filling our lives with other things or are we filling our lives with Jesus???? I know that it's so easy for me to fill my life with things that really have no kingdom value. I feel like my life is so crazy, and it is. But why is it that way? My prayer is that I will take the time to find out what God want me to fill my life with. First and foremost it is with Him.

God sends the rain.

Thursday it rained all day and I mean really rained. The guys were able to finish the 6 benches on Wednesday. Thank you Lord for this special gift. They worked so hard and really pushed themselves to get them finished because they knew the rain was coming. We spent the day with Joe Kim and the kids. We shopped for things to grill and had a late lunch. Several folks played Joker. Just to let you know that there are several of really competative people on our trip. I spent some of the day instant messaging video with Lynn which was good because he had some things that I could help him with. God is so good and know just when things need to happen. I promise you can see him at work if you just look. We really needed a break and it was fun to just enjoy spending time with the missionaries. J.P. had to go back to Ljubjlana for a program that the PTA sponsors. It was called Scary Story Night. He showed the movie The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. He said that the kids really enjoyed it. Joe grilled chicken, hamburger sauage things, sauage, potatoe salad, grilled vegies and birthday cake for Gene and Becky. Gene's birthday was on Thursday. We ate a late meal for supper. The food is really good and there is something for everyone. I am real pickie about my food but I have tried hard to eat different things. I tried hot pumpkin soup and wasn't real crazy about it. Will post more later. Sending my love, Lori

Seeing more of the beauty

God's Beautiful Creation

The Soca (socha) river. It is so
beautiful. The water is really low
they haven't had much rain.
The girls on the Soca river. We walked down
close to the river to get this picture and it
was really cold.
I can't wait to get back here for some white
water rafting. That is one way that Jo
ministers to the locals.
What a mighty God we serve. We went up
really close to the top of the mountain
about 3500 ft. It was so beautiful I could
hardly speek.
The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Psalm 19:1

We like all sheep

Today God shared with me what sheep really
look like. They are dirty, nasty and they
stink. Yet they are beautiful. We are just like
sheep. We are dirty, nasty and the things
we do really stink until we acecpt Christ.
Has Jesus cleaned you??????
We like all sheep, have gone astray, each of us has
turned to his own way; and the lord has laid on
him the iniquity of us all. Isaiah 53:6

Tuesday's Adventure

Becky and I are standing by a creek listening to
the water run and the bell on a sheep ring.
One of the best sounds I've ever heard.
It was cloudy today and a good bit colder.
Sloven cat fight! Really. The white cat looked
like a bull dog and it really had been in a few
cat fights. It's ears were gone.
Rosemary, Nancy and J P heading back to the
car.

Resting in Little Rock

We finally made it to the hotel about 9:30 pm. It has been a real busy day. Trying to get ready to head to Slovenia and watch God share His love through us. I know He has big plans for those special people. Packing: I thought I would pack differently for this trip and you can bet that I did. I got a new backpack and it is so heavy that I am always tipping backwards. LOL It really is hard to pack everything you might need for a 10 day trip in a carry-on bag. Please pray for the Kelley's and the people of Bovec. Also, pray for Heather Chandler she didn't get a good report today. We know that God has a special plan for her. More tomorrow!

Getting Ready

I am trying to get my stuff together and packed. I took off today with the plans to get it all done. For some reason I decided to clean, really clean my house. I moved the fridge out and cleaned behind, under and vacuumed the coils. I cleaned out one of the closets. I really needed to be getting my things together and begin to pack. I didn't get much packing done. Guess I better get up early and get to packing. I am really excited about what God has planned for us on this trip. I am so thankful that He has chosen me to be apart of this team. Please pray for us. We will be leaving Little Rock at 8:55 AM on Saturday. I will keep you all posted on our trip.

Finally Rested

Good Morning, It is Great to be home. We arrived home a week ago tonight and it has taken my body that much time to fully recover. Sorry that I didn't post much while I was away. The computer was hard to come by and the Internet didn't always work. We had an awesome time, learned so much and will never be the same. J. P., Angie and Bethany are the missionary family that we worked with. WOW!!!!! What dedication they have. They have given all of their life, I mean ALL of their life for God. They are truly sold out. Think about it, they leave all of their family and friends in the states, travel to a LOST country send their kids to school in another country, all this to share the Love of Christ. My prayer is that I can be that sold out. I hope to post lots of pictures in the days to come. Please pray for the missionaries in Slovenia. J. P. & Angie Manley, Randy & Joan Bell and Jo and Kim Kelly and their families.

Wonderful Wednesday

Today was Great!!!! and sad all at the same time. We spent the morning at the Ljubljana city museum and also went to a first century baptistery. It was awesome. There is so much history in this country. J. P. is really excited. He has been working to build a relationship with the folks at the museum. He may even be able to help with a Christian exhibit. This is really big. We also went sharing. Bro. David and I were together today and we talked to several people. One of the young ladies didn't know what a bible was or who Jesus was. This is something we Americans take for granted. We all have a Christian foundation to build from. This just breaks my heart!!!! Robert and Sarah Ellen had an opportunity to talk to two guys who are studying philosophy . John and Dolores talked with a guy who was an atheist. He was very receptive to what they had to say. Grace was with J. P. and they had an opportunity to talk with two young ladies. (We all are talking to lots of folks but these are the ones I think I should share.) During our discussions we are inviting them to come to a meal and a lecture about Primoz Trubar. He is very important to them. Look that up on the Internet and read about it if you have time. Hopefully we will have some interest there. We rode the bus to J. P. & Angie's to have supper and visited with their daughter Bethany. It was a great time of sharing. I just love them. They have committed to give there life to the Lord. WOW

Question to all of us! Have I committed my life to the Lord? My whole life? Is He the most important thing in my life? If He came back today would He be happy with what I am filling my life with?
Love to you all,
Lori
PS: Thanks Lynn for the info it will be a great help. I love you!
Hope to post pictures tomorrow.

I have so much to share.

There is so much to tell you. I hope that I can catch up tomorrow. Please know that we can see God at work. I have seen my eyes open to so many things. Many things about myself. I will share as I have time. Sending love to you and my Awesome family. Lynn, thank you so much for giving me this opportunity. I love you soooooo much.
P.S. These pictures are from Sarah Ellen's camera. Don't have away to load mine.

Our flight to Rome

We flew to Cinncinati, Ohio then to New York, Kennedy then to Rome. It seemed like we were always in a rush to get where we needed to be. We had a little wait in New York, just enough for us to eat.  Getting off the plane in New York the steps were VERY steep. Dolores was going down them first. When I turned to check on her she was at the on the ground on her bottom with her legs in the air. I wanted to laugh but I was afraid she was hurt. Next thing I knew she was up and on her way. SHE IS A WALKING MACHINE. Never missing a beat. The rest of us would ride the moving sidewalks but not her. Who says a 74 year old woman can't go on a Mission with God! We loaded the plane to Rome and I thought WOW. I had never seen a plane that large. Everyone is trying to secure a place to put our carry on luggage. Finally all was placed and we settled in for what I thought was going to be a Great opportunity to get some sleep. NOT! I even took me a little pill to help out. Most of us only got a a little sleep. They never turned the light out.

We're off to see the missionaries, the wonderful missionaries of God!

This is the information that I had to post from the first day of the trip.
I was awake all night trying to finish everything not wanting to worry about what I was leaving behind. We loaded the car at 4:30 and headed to pick up Dolores. After getting to the church, we loaded the bus and headed to Little Rock. We had lots of help getting our tickets and off to the gates we went. Saying goodbye to Lynn is always so hard. Sarah Ellen didn't know about her 3-in-one bag so we were trying to get her stuff together before we got to the scanner. As we moved to the scanner we removed our shoes and loaded our stuff in the boxes. I was really worried about the liquid make-up I placed in Sarah Ellen's bag. My things scanned and as I was trying to get my shoes the security guard saw me get my carry on bag and called me over to the side area. She wanted to know what was in the Foil Paper. I began to chuckle. Bro. David had requested Dolores to make her famous fudge. She did and wrapped it in foil paper (not  a good idea), placed it in a baggie and put in a bag. Some how it found it's home in my bag. I explained that it was fudge. She took it and my bag and rescanned them then sent me on my way. We have had several laughs over the fudge bomb!!!!

Resting

Doberdon, Hello to everyone! Just a little information while we are resting. This is the first day that I have had access to a computer. We are having a great time but are very tired. I can't wait to share with all of you what is going on. Hopefully I will have time tonight to post some pictures and tell you all about it. I will tell you a funny story. Bro. David ordered fudge from Dolores. She made it and wrapped it in foil and put it in a plastic bag. I ended up with it in my carry on bag. While we waited in line for our turn I was helping Dolores (AKA Sister) and Sarah Ellen not really paying attention to my things. We loaded our things into the boxes and sent them through the scanner. They pulled me aside and wanted to know what was in the foil. I started laughing and tried to explain what was in there. She took it out scanned it and rescanned my bag. They let me through and I got to keep the fudge.  Hope you all laugh as much as we did. Thank you all for your prayers and support. Continue to pray that God will use us.

Pray for safe travel and pray that we may touch the hearts of someone and be able to share Christ with them. Also pray for Lynn while I am away. For those of you that may not know I am leaving with a group of 6 others from Central Baptist headed to Ljubljana, Slovenia via Rome for 10 days. Have a Great day. With love
